My baby girl loves her babies. We have so many dolls already and she isn’t even 2 yet. We don’t leave the house without a baby and accessories in tow. I decided that she needed a diaper bag because Mama is tired of toting it all.
I searched Pinterest and can across this pattern and tutorial from Mommy by Day Crafter by Night. The tutorial was easy to follow. The only thing I did differently was to add some pockets to the inside and I’ll show you how I did that at the end.
I picked up this really cute fabric from Walmart. I knew I wanted Minnie Mouse because she loves Minnie but I was thrilled to find this very subtle Minnie fabric because I’m not a fan of “in your face” character patterns. The pink polka dot is what I chose for the inside.
I didn’t decide on pockets until I happened across this fat quarter while waiting for someone to cut my other fabric (which at Walmart means walking to sporting goods a few times and asking them to call someone to crafts). I thought it was so sweet and wanted to use it somehow so why not pockets!
So anyway here is my finished bag! (Instructions for the pocket at the bottom.)
Cut two pieces of your fat quarter or any fabric you’d like to use to 9×5. Sew them right sides together leaving a space for turning (the space will get closed when you sew the pocket onto the interior fabric). Turn and press. Center your pocket on one of your interior front or back pieces at least 1 inch up from the bottom. Pin in place.
Sew around the sides and bottom (shown in red below. I know it’s not straight someone should teach me how to draw on a phone screen.)
Be sure to back stitch at least once on the top left and right.
Once it’s sewn into place just find the center and sew a straight line from the bottom to the top and don’t forget to back stitch!
Voila! Now your bag has two pockets. After all a girl needs pockets in her bags!
I hope this was easy to understand. If you have any questions feel free to leave me a comment below.
You did a fantastic job. So cute!
